About the Founder

Dr. Denise Buchanan is the Founder and CEO of   Faith Has Feet, a movement dedicated to empowering inter-faith and youth leaders to create safe and healthy communities for young people by transforming their faith into positive, impactful actions that create change.

As a Psychoneurologist, Author, Harvard Sustainable Business Strategist, Entrepreneur and Certified Human Rights Consultant, Dr. Buchanan is a Founding Member of ECA: Ending Clergy Abuse, A Global Justice Project. Over the past seven years, Denise has been instrumental in expanding the organization across five continents, uniting members from over 25 countries. Through her advocacy she was invited to serve on the Pontifical Gregorian University’s IADC Advisory Committee in Rome, contributing to the Institute’s academic  studies on safeguarding and ensuring its work remains effective and impactful. She has been called on as a speaker at international events including at the United Nations, Vatican City, Jamaica, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Columbia, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina, Warsaw and Berlin, underscoring her dedication to fostering global change and interconnectedness.

As a Jamaican survivor of clergy sexual abuse herself, Dr. Buchanan is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and she thrives in the realm of what’s possible. Dr. Buchanan recognized a profound disconnect between the teachings and laws of faith-based institutions, including the Catholic Church, and their actual implementation to safeguard young people and help them thrive. This realization compelled her to create FAITH HAS FEET, a civil society movement dedicated to mobilizing inter-faith youth, congregants and community leaders. Through education, collaboration and the implementation of proven strategies, FAITH HAS FEET strives to protect young people from violence and equip them with essential life skills and business acumen, to cultivate a prosperous future. FAITH HAS FEET reflects the idea that faith alone is not enough, belief alone is not enough-it must move, act and create change. Our name is our mission: to put faith into action by giving youth the tools to rise above trauma and poverty and to walk into futures of dignity, leadership and prosperity.

About Our Mission

TRANSFORMING TRAUMA TO TRIUMPH

FAITH HAS FEET is a civil society movement turning faith into action for young adults (18–30) who’ve faced generational or childhood trauma, poverty, or limited opportunity. We equip youth with trauma-informed healing, leadership pathways, and entrepreneurial mindsets so they move from surviving to thriving. Serving underserved communities across the United States, Africa, Jamaica, and the wider Caribbean diaspora, we open real routes to dignity and income through agriculture, sustainable food systems, and the creative industries. With practical skills, mentorship, and market-ready experiences, FAITH HAS FEET empowers a new generation to transform their lives—and their communities—one confident step at a time.
